Breast Prosthesis Care Consultant
Cheryl Zgonena, CF-m
As the Breast Care Consultant for Prosthetic Illusions, Cheryl dedicates her time to providing personal care, true expertise and education to breast cancer survivors in need of prosthetic guidance.
Cheryl is originally from Chicago, where she completed her BA in Communications from DePaul University. From 1993-2002, she worked in advertising as a marketing specialist and media negotiator. Interested in the path of wellbeing, Cheryl left the corporate world to pursue massage.
Her love of adventurous outdoor sports and fast-paced activities helped facilitate her advanced education into sports massage and post-surgical/injury rehabilitation from the Colorado School of Healing Arts. Cheryl practiced privately, focusing on neuromuscular re-education and trigger point therapy to alleviate chronic pain and correct postural distortions for fellow weekend warriors and athletes.
In 2005, Cheryl was recruited as a member of The Sports Massage Team where she assists in the maintenance of cyclists throughout the Rocky Mountain bicycle tours. She helps maintain the health of novice to professional cyclists through preventive, rehabilitative and emotional healing of an athlete.
In 2010, Cheryl focused her medical-based massage skills through the positive effects of manual modalities on post-operative patients. She found her most rewarding work helping women with the recovery process from breast augmentation, mastectomy and reconstructive procedures.
Cheryl joined the Prosthetic Illusions team in 2011 as the Breast Care Consultant and Marketing Director. Cheryl’s unique skill set enables her to promote breast health awareness and prosthetic alternatives to the survivor community. Prosthetic Illusions has participated in local, regional and national events such as Susan G. Komen “Walk for the Cure,” the American Society of Plastic Surgeons “Breast Surgery & Body Contouring Symposium,” Bright Pink, and Red Rocks Cancer Center Survivor Day.
